Questions & answers - track and field

1)      Are there pictures of the stadium we can see?
The stadium is being rebuilt right now. It is planned to be ready for World Outgames. The rebuilding is progressing as planned. We have no pictures at the moment. When we have some we will post them on the website.

2)      What are the spikes lengths allowed for each event?
Spikes length allowed will be 6 mm. May be longer spikes will be allowed on the jumping fields, but we do not know yet.

3)      Are all implements going to be provided? If not, which ones will not be provided?
All implements will be provided, but of course everybody is allowed to bring own implements. There will be hours for weighing and measuring of own implements, so that they live op to required standards.
Note that you may want to bring your own pole for pole vault. The organizers do not guarantee poles in all sizes.

4)      Is the javelin run up on grass or synthetic?
The javelin run up is synthetic.

5)      Are javelin, discus, hammer or any other field event outside the main stadium?
All track and field events including all throwing events at World Outgames will be inside the main stadium.

6)      Is electronic timing provided?
Electronic timing is provided for all running events.

7)      Will there be: shade, drinks, food
There will be a roofed stand for the spectators and athletes. This will provide shadow.
There is a cafeteria at the stadium offering drinks and food like burgers etc. Besides this, we have volunteers working on a sandwich / fruit bar at the stadium. Also the stadium is placed next to several bagel and sandwich stores and a supermarket, so you will have a lot of choices when it comes to food.

8)   Will there be changing rooms and showers at the venue?
Yes there are changing rooms and showers for men and women at the venue. If you have any special requests e.g. for transgender persons please let us know.

9)  Will there be: massage therapists, ice/first aid, ambulances at the venue?
First aid persons will be at the stadium. No ambulances as we feel this is not required. As to massage therapists we are working on it, but no solution has been found yet.

10)  Will starting blocks be provided?
Yes, starting blocks will be provided

11)  What are the specifications for masters’ hurdles and throwing implements?
Please see the specifications under the “Rules” tab.

Relay 1000 m medley mixed (2 men, 2 women) – will feature as an event, and not as a part of the offical competition.

The age groups for the events are as follows:

18-29     30-34
35-39 40-44
45-49 with 5 year interval groups up to the oldest participant

Competitions in 100 m, 200 m, 400 m, 800 m and 1500 m will be held in two stages: a qualifying heat and a final. Qualifying heats will be run if there are a large number of athletes registered in a specific age category. Best time and positions will advance.

Classification for other competitions will be determined according to best times and distances.
