Copenhagen - Athletes and others with HIV planning to participate at the World Outgames 2009 need not worry about seeking special exemptions or permission for travel into Denmark. HIV+ visitors are granted entry into Denmark on the same basis as all others
“Anything else would be discriminatory" explained a civil servant at the foreign visitors service. “We expect all visitors to take care of themselves and be considerate of others.”
HIV+ visitors taking medication are advised to have a prescription or other form of authorized documentation from their physician or clinic when going through customs. Those traveling to Denmark via another country, for example the United States, should check the rules of entry for that country.

New York - The STONEWALL Veterans Association (S.V.A.) has agreed to lend their support to World Outgames 2009 and acknowledge the international LGBT sporting, cultural and human rights event as an official celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion
S.V.A. members include a number of the brave men and women who were present during the police raid at the Stonewall Inn on Christopher Street in New York on the 27th of June 1969.
The raid led to week long confrontation between the police, the patrons of the Stonewall Inn and the residents of Greenwich village that ignited the modern Gay Liberation Movement in the United States and sparked the coming out of millions of LGBT men and women around the world.
“We are pleased and honored to be associated with the World Outgames 2009,” said SVA president Williamson Henderson. “And we look forward to joining our brothers and sisters from all over the world in Copenhagen to demonstrate how tolerance and diversity benefit all of humankind.”
Among the members of the S.V.A. is former world Welterweight and Middleweight boxing champion Emile Griffith whose professional career is documented in the film Ring Of Fire. For more information about the S.V.A. visit there website at www.stonewallvets.org.
