Teater Rio Rose’s BATTLEFIELD series encompass the visually beautiful and humane in its performances. In fragmented and yet easily recognizable ways, stories of love and conflict are told on several levels; about relationships, about our communication with our immediate environments, and about the international conflicts and wars we read about in the papers and see on TV.
In BATTLEFIELD # 1, which was nominated for the prestigious Danish Reumert Award in 2008, we were invited to observe a heterosexual couple’s everyday life. In BATTLEFIELD # 2 we meet two women, and in # 3 we show the same performance featuring two men. In these versions, which are presented together at World Outgames, the prejudices felt by many heterosexual couples towards same sex couples, are reneged. We experience the intimacy, conflicts and comical situations we all recognize as simply human – no matter what the couple’s constellation might be.
