OutCities Mayoral Summit

OutCities Mayoral Summit

The political goal of OutCities 2009 is to exchange experience about how public policy in cities across the globe addresses cultural diversity - and how public policy impacts on integration and anti-discrimination.

Cities with a high degree of cultural diversity are internationally recognised as hubs of economic growth and social well-being. Seen as progressive and creative, they are desirable places to live and work in – and visit.

Mayors and city officials from the participating cities are therefore invited to an International Mayoral Summit during World OutGames hosted by the Lord Mayor of Copenhagen, Ms Ritt Bjerregaard. The summit will focus on how the different OutCities incorporate cultural diversity as a key element in urban innovation and growth. It will also provide a valuable platform for developing and exchanging ideas about cultural diversity and city development.

The OutCities International Mayoral Summit will be part of the World OutGames Human Rights Conference in 2009.
