Melbourne: Outside the Square
Sophisticated and slick, edgy and rough, Melbourne’s physical and cultural landscape is shaped by a dynamic population, ever-ravenous for a bite of global culture. The result is Australia’s most accessible multiculturalism.
Melbourne hosts an abundance of cultural venues, galleries and festivals and many of Australia’s internationally acclaimed artists live and work in the city. The arts spill out onto our streets, laneways and rooftops and our creativity is evident in everything we do.
We’re a well and truly out city, with a busy queer cultural calendar and a host of GLBTIQ organisations supported and promoted by the City. Add a passion for food and fashion, and Melbourne emerges as Australia’s most urbane city. It makes sense for Melbourne to participate in the OutCities Project!
Wherever people, sport, culture, creativity, inclusiveness and diversity collide, Melbourne feels right at home. So, as part of OutCities 2009, we look forward to a welcoming Melbourne experience recreated in the centre of Copenhagen.
Melbourne has always thought ‘outside the square.’
Now Copenhagen has given us one to play with!
