OutCities 2009

- A Global Gift to Everyone in Copenhagen from World Outgames

With Outcities 2009 World Outgames is taking over the streets of Copenhagen with a cultural celebration of diversity.

OutCities represents a cultural feast during World Outgames 2009 – a unique international collaboration with LGBT artists across the globe with all the Outcities stating loud and proud that queer culture is an important part of their cities’ culture.

From 25 July to 31 July Antwerp, Mexico City, Melbourne, Tel Aviv, Rio de Janeiro and Denmark’s very own Aarhus will be coming to fill the squares and streets of Copenhagen with artists creating music, installations, events, and performances on the themes of gender, identity and diversity.

In close collaboration with the OutCities, we’re giving everyone in town during World Outgames a unique experience of global arts and culture on the OutCities Route running through the very heart of Copenhagen.

Together they’ll be presenting a vast array of world arts and culture - a world city festival in the streets of Copenhagen.

Highlights include:

> Antwerp, will be here in July to join the celebrations with a whole week of queer fashion, drag queen extravaganzas and pop to make you rock.

Melbourne are hosting performances from down under at Vor Frue Plads, with the feminist cabaret diva Yana Alana and her sizzling hot all-lady band Tha Paranas, Aussie power pop studs The Blow Waves and MC, singer, actor and comedian Wes Snelling.

> Bringing the global south of the OutCities project is Mexico City, who will be bringing a very different flavour to Nytorv outside the city courthouse with the Mexican mega celebrity and diva Regina Orozco, the lesbian cabaret Las Reinas Chulas, and Horacio Franco playing a very naughty flute!

Tel Aviv are bringing a taste of the beach to the waterfront at Islands Brygge, with daily chill-out sessions with top DJs, contemporary dance performances and their top-listed gay pop idol Ivri Lider on the first stop of his international tour.

> Denmark’s very own Aarhus are building a ‘One Love City’ of contemporary art installations at Soeren Kirkeggards Square outside Denmark’s Royal Library. Fresh from the city’s talent factory you can look forward to dance premieres, installation art and the very best contemporary music.

So come and join the fun and enjoy this global gift to everyone in Copenhagen during World Outgames 2009.
