HIV and AIDS

Visitors with HIV and AIDS are welcome to Denmark. Remember your medications, behave responsibly and play safe. Infecting others with the virus is punishable by law.

In Copenhagen, the local heath authorities provide free condoms and lube! You can pick them up in most gay bars, clubs and saunas - ask the staff if you don't see any. You can also buy them in shops and kiosks.

If you think you have been exposed to HIV during your visit, then PEP treatment is available. PEP stands for post-exposure prphylactic, and can help prevent an infection immediately after you have been exposed to the HIV virus, for example if a condom breaks.

PEP is only be effective if given within 24 hours, so don't delay. The sooner you get PEP, the more likely it is to work. Call Stop AIDS on 33 91 11 19 or Rigshospital on 35 45 51 12 for help.
