Going out in Copenhagen is easy. Most LGBT bars and cafés are within a few minutes’ walk of each other.
Popular places during the day are Oscar and Code, which both serve food. Oscar is especially appealing in Summer with its large windows and outdoor service.
Centralhjørnet (” Central Corner”) is one of Europe’s oldest gay bars and always very popular, as is the much younger Jailhouse which also has a restaurant upstairs.
For the women, there is Chaca nearby in Studiestræde - the heart of the LGBT scene. Vela, a former go-go bar on Victoriagade, is another popular spot for Women where live DJ’s sometimes play and the atmosphere is always festive.
Most bars are mixed except for Men’s Bar and the leather club SLM, which have strict door policies. And keep in mind that a few bars like Cosy and Never Mind are late-night places that don’t get busy until after midnight!
Smoking is only permitted in smaller bars that don’t serve hot food. Non-smoking places include Code, Oscar and Never Mind.
Leather club SLM has a separate smoking room – the only one in an LGBT venue in Copenhagen.
